Brian & Cami
My name is Cami and I will be your writer for this blog. My husband is Brian and he is just along for the ride. Brian & I were married in 2013 and we have 2 grown beautiful daughters. We also have a granddaughter, a granddog, a grandcat, and 2 great son-in-laws. Brian works in law enforcement and I work at our local college. Brian is also associate pastor of our church.
In 2020, we bought 40 acres and began building our dream home, pretty much by ourselves. Nothing elaborate, just a small country farmhouse on top of a hill with a view that you could stare at for hours. But, about 3 months after we started building I lost my <then> job. It was devastating. I loved the work I did and I was heartbroken. But on the flip side, it allowed me to be able to help Brian more in the building process. It was during this time that Brian confided to me that he was not happy as his <then> job. Frustrated with life, we started doing a lot of reflecting, looking ahead to the future, and thinking about “today”. We had been in our house about a year when one day we took a road trip out of town for the day and talked pretty much non-stop (not unusual lol)… but this conversation was a little different, more serious… and we both felt the same… “let’s simplify life and do what we love”. We love traveling (even if for a day), we love the outdoors (hiking, kayaking, camping), and we love our dog. Let’s simplify what we can, where we can, so we are able to do these things more.
So… fast forward to 2024. We have both since found jobs we love that offer great vacation time (a big plus for the plans we have). And we are selling our farm, paying off debt, downsizing, and planning to enjoy more of what we love. It’s an exciting time for us.
Add to all that our baby boy, Blue, and life is grand.
We give praise to God for, not only our relationship with each other, but how He has blessed us in how we enjoy the same things in life and how He has made and continues to make a way for us to be able to do those things and enjoy our life together.
So, in a nutshell, that’s us. We are not special, we are not wealthy, and we are not important people. We just love Jesus, our families, our dog, our life, and each other.
Blue
Blue is our first Airedale Terrier. We got him at 3 months old and he is such a good boy. He is smart, trains well, eats like a horse, and has tons of energy. He has adapted well to traveling and loves to go “bye bye”. He is growing up to be the best companion for us. He is a knothead, but we sure love him.
